Improving teaching and learning in Mathematics

Description of Support

Mathematics teachers in supported schools will benefit from the opportunity to strengthen their own mathematics pedagogy. The adaptable packages are used to provide support to ensure that mathematics teams are knowledgeable about and confident in approaches to lesson design, feedback, assessment for learning, tracking and monitoring that supports improved engagement, mathematical dialogue and progress in mathematics.

Aims

  • Support mathematics departments’ and leaders in the use of key approaches to improve the teaching and learning of mathematics.

  • Support Local Authorities in the process of building a pool of local expertise to enhance mathematics teaching and learning and improve rates of progress of pupils from Years 7-13.

The support packages A-G can be adapted for use.
